Measured power/Calculated power

Measured power/Calculated power

Postby gringojack » Thu Jan 22, 2015 2:53 am

Hi

What do I need to do in order to visualize through "Custom data track plugin" the difference between Powertap measured power sent to my Edge 1000 (saved in fit file and import by ST) from the one calculated by plugin in ST.
The above mentioned plugin looks very nice but I dont really know how to use it even after I read the manual! :roll: :roll:
Thank you for any help

Custom Data Tracks plugin has a new feature "Calculated tracks" since a few months ago.
This lets you create your own tracks by specifying a formula how to calculate the track points from other data (hr, power, ........)
So you can use this feature to create your own track with a formula like
Code: Select all
{DataPoint.Power}-{DataPoint.CDT["Power 2"]}"
which means "calculate the values as power minus value of 'Power 2' track (this is where GPS2PowerTrack plugin saves its calculated power)".
Nice, ehh?
Tiny issue: that is not yet possible in the latest official version, because itdoes not yet let you use calculated tracks (e.g. {DataPoint.CDT["Power 2"]} ) in your formulae.
It'll be possible in the next version that I'll release within a few days.

Btw, it's not yet covered in the manual. But it all takes place on the settings page of Custom Data Tracks plugin - and the features should be self-explanatory.

Cheers,

I want to make a calculated track with a rather long formula.
And somewhere I make a mistake, other than a forgotten " ( "
I find it difficult to read my formula.
So I thought to split my formula in nested formulas, and compose my large formula out of smaller calculated tracks.

Unfortunately this new feature of CDT does not recognize custom calculated tracks.
I can only add custom data tracks to my formula.

My question: Will it be possible one day to add calculated tracks to a formula?
Or is such a composition just impossible?

It's not impossible but more complex: the plugin has to consider calculation order of different calculated tracks. If track A's formula refers to track B, B must be calculated first.
I'll maybe add this some time in the future, but not this week.

Workaround if your main concern is to find logical errors in your formulae:
* split your formula and have multiple calculated tracks A, B, C
* if A should use B and C, create new non-calculated tracks B* and C*
* leat A's formula use B* and C*
* and use the activity detail page of CDT plugin to copy B to B* and C to C*
