Equipment and maintenance

Postby NINER_boy » Thu May 02, 2013 2:17 am

Hi there OMB

Thank you for great plugins.

I have a problem with the maintenance, scheduled maintenance and maintenance schedules of my items.

I followed the instructions to a T, and still AFTER maintenance logged, I still see the item in the Maintenance popup when I press the "maintenance schedule" button.

Example

I have a bike with Front suspension shock, that I scheduled maintenance for after 70hrs of riding.
This worked like a charm.

Now, I had the shock serviced, marked it so at the maintenance button and comments.

Then, when I go into the maintenance schedule, this item shows "next maintenance in ...", BUT shows this in the popup;

"Name" "Next maintenance in" "End of life in" "Total use"
"RockShox - Reba 29 RTL WHITE" "98.6h (@ 223.5h)
Service shock" "-24.9h (@ 100.0h)" "2 644 km / 124.9h / 8.6 month(s)"
AND I did / do not mark end of life monitor.

How, after maintenance is done and logged can I get this item to NOT show up in the maintenance popup window?

Please let me know if I am missing something somewhere.

Thx

Would you please add screen shots of
1. the popup
2. the "Maintenance" detail page of the affected equpment item(s)
3. the Equipment plugin's settings page
so that I can see all relevant details.

Save the screen shots to an image format (.PNG, .BMP, .GIF, .JPEG) or .PDF format and zip all of them into one zip archive.
Attach that to your post.

None of the items in the popup windows has its "maintenance due" usage within the configured limits -> the popup isn't shown because of maintenance due.
However some of the items are near or beyond their "end of life".
So I strongly assume that one of these items has the "monitor end of life" checkbox ticked in the "Maintenance" equipment detail page.
This causes the plugin to show the pop up - which then shows ALL items that are noteworthy due to mainenance due or end of life.

Btw, it doesn't make much sense to have equipment items in your logbook that are marked "In use" but are well beyond their "end of life" date.
If you don't use them any longer, untick the "In use" flag on the equipment item's overview page.
If you still use it, change the expected end of life to a reasonable value.

Cheers,
OMB

Will let you know

Hi guys

Just to let you know;
I double checked EVERY item, to NOT have end of life ticked.

Closed the program

Opened the program again

GREAT, the popups have disappeared, but when I click on the "show maintenance schedules" icon, I still see the same popup I sent you in the previous screenshot.

Thx

Well, that's how it's designed to work:
"monitor end of life" unticked --> end of life doesn't trigger the pop ups.
But nevertheless, the eol items are in the list.

Hi there

So, I will just "have to" ignore those eol details, and JUST use the "next maintenance in" part.

Please tell me there is another fix.

Maybe I should "delete" the item (with eol) with my next maintenance, and then add again, WITHOUT eol.
That should work them out one by one...

Let me know what you think.
Thx

Hi there

But wouldn't that mess up the automated reminder for scheduled maintenance?

Those values will then have to be inserted where the "schedule maintenance every..." blocks are, and then render reminders useless?
Wouldn't it?

Hi guys

Just to let you know, the EOL issue is sorted.

I checked specifically today, and all is good.
So just a restart and a few imports and exports later and all is good.

Thx for the assistance.

Hi OMB,

Just a small detail that "disturb" me, (like anything when I cannot understand if it's my mistake or if it's by design)

My plug-in configuration:
Image

If I understood correctly, whatever equipment that is below those limits, will shows a warning triangle

But my Shimano chain shows a warning triangle even if there are still more than 700 km to go. In fact the triangle become a green dot only if I modify the end of life to have more than 805 km to go.

Image

I still sleep wery well  but, every time I open ST, there is this triangle...

ciao

Where is your 2nd screen shot from - from ST's standard equipment view?
If yes, that has nothing to do with the Equipment plugin's parameters for this item.
The Equipment plugin parameters only affect the display on the plugin's equipment monitor page http://sporttracks-plugins.com/SportTra ... ocId753956 .

ST Equipment will show a warning triangle whenever there is 10% or less estimated life in an item. That 10% threshold value is not user selectable.
