Removing the sensor temperature from Weather

Removing the sensor temperature from Weather

Postby Tisztul_A_Visztula » Mon Aug 08, 2011 12:30 pm

Hi OMB,

I dunno whether it is a bug or feature but when I remove the sensor temperature with the menu point "select more charts" as a right hand y scale item, it works only as a temporary solution. I comes back so neither the plugin nor ST3 saves it as a setting.
I did not experience any similar behavior in ST3, so maybe it is a not wished phenomenon.

Yes, I had the same experience. Now it doesn't bother me any longer, since I bought a Garmin Edge 800.

It's not a bug, it's a feature

Two charts are available as "main charts" on the left y axis: sensor temperature and adjusted temperature.
Neither of these can be deleted. Ok, I admit they shouldn't appear on the list, then :)

Cheers,
OMB

PS: I'm very satisfied that only such minor glitches seem to be on the bug list

Maybe there is some misunderstanding. The left Y axis is only Adjusted Temperature because I chose Adj. temp / dist. (km). It is fine and never switches to another one without my intention. There is always one left Y axis, if I wish it to be this way.

I was speaking about the right Y axis, where one can delete the Sensor temperature, but its effect is limited until the next launch of ST3, because it is not saved as a setting.

Yep, it's a "feature" - see image above :)
I.e. a bug in disguise.

Any plan or possibility to remove that "feature" in the next release?

None at all - it's just a minor glitch, not a real problem.

Dear OMB,

Can you have a look at the Sensor temperature please? Having looked up an English dictionary ;-) I agree that the notorious return of the Sensor temp as a right Y scale item is really just a glitch.
But the other problem with the Sensor temp and this is the reason why I always eliminate it from the right Y scale is that it gives you first a false range like between 0-250 °C and even after I rescale it there is no chart belonging to it.

Or is the Sensor temp not the non-adjusted avg temp of the wunderground stations just something else that I dont have access to?

It's the temperature recorded by your bike computer.
It's available when you are using a bike computer that has a thermometer and an importer into ST that supports this.
Ciclosport HAC, SRM, Garmin edge 500/800, ...

I've seen the two updates of the plugin published on 12th and 14th October.

"Release history --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oct 12, 2011:
* NEW: support for ST's "Join" and "Split" actions - existing weather information is now joined and split as well
* NEW: Shortcuts to Edit:Weather:Find weather information and Clear weather information as buttons on the activity detail page
* CHANGED: Reported precipitation on the activity summary page is changed from avg mm/hour to total in mm
* CHANGED: Find weather information: improved error message when no information was found
* FIXED: a few minor fixes"

Dear OMB, you never promised to remove this minor glitch, but I had hoped for it without urging you. Is there any slight chance that during the programming the next revised version you remove this small, minor, tiny, minuscule :-) but bloody annoying "glitch-chen"?

As I've written, it's really a feature that I decided to build this way.
And the effort to change this is in no relation to the possible benefit for changing this.

Sorry, I usually fix or change other things quite fast - but not this one.

Alright, we can remove Sensor Temperature using the additional charts tools.
BUT Sensor Temperature reappears, even with no sensor data present, upon ST3 restart.
Since Sensor Temperature is generally meaningless for most users and most devices compared to weather station recordings, why keep it mandatory

This is with the latest version 3.0.4373

I have a strong fear that it is very easy to predict my behaviour  How did you know that I will read the readme.txt, too? 8)

Thanks, IOU1.
