Check how you have performed a workout

Check how you have performed a workout

Postby rikicarra » Tue Feb 22, 2011 3:33 pm

This looks like a dream, but you know, when you pedal you get crazy ideas :D

The idea is to be able to compare the goal(s) of your workout with the real data you have performed. Ideally a graph with time (or distance) on the X axis and Power, Cadence (and maybe HR) on the Y axis. In the graph you have the goal for each step represented as two horizontal lines (or a shaded rectangle) and the real track you have performed. You can then check if you have been in the goal or not.

I realize that there are barriers/difficulties to define the goal(s) based on the workout, because in some instances the step is not based on time but on something else (the workaround could be to identify the step in the real track, as it is an interval, and define the time from there). I am sure there are other barriers, but maybe it's worthwile to give some thoughts.

Thanks in advance for considering this, and keep going with the great development!

Ciao Ricardo,

I've nearly finished what might be exactly what your're looking for: a comparison of activities vs. workouts:

Note: the activity wasn't recorded when doing this particular workout, so the data on the screen shot are not meaningful

I still have to add some color coding to this table to highlight steps that performed well and others that didn't reach the targets.

Besides that there is a chart representation that works exactly like the one you dreamed of :)
Some bells and whistles are not yet in place, but the basic functionality works well.

Cheers,

It's not far from beta test.
Could you please send me an email with some test data:
- 1-2 Garmin workouts (as FIT or TCX files)
- your Garmin user profile (either a screen shot from Pissed Off Cils Garmin Fitness plugin if you use that, or one from Garmin Trainng Center - bäh)
- several FITLOG files of activities that your performed with these workouts
Please add a brief description which activities werde performed with which workouts).

That'll allow me to bring the current development to the beta test phase.

Cheers,
OMB

It's cool to see this in action. Honestly, this has been proposed many times before but I don't believe it belongs in GF as I concentrate on device communication. Good to see someone taking the lead.

Yep, this baby will be a good mate for your Garmin Fitness plugin.
And there's a very concise field of use for the plugins:
* Garmin Fitness plugin for the training planning phase.
* Training Analysis plugin for trainining analysis

If someone can provide test data: workout files and activities recorded while doing these workouts, please send me a PM.

note that the data are nonsense - the activity hasn't been recorded while doing this workout

I love it but I'll put it this way :
1) Fit Plan & Reach Your Goal for training planning
2) Garmin Fitness for creation/editing & device export
3) Training Analysis for post-ride analysis

Super trio. Maybe we should package a combo pack???

Now is this an affair or marriage (can I say that as there are 3 involved in the marriage)? Or is it a polygamy type arrangement?
Whatever it is it works for me. 8)

I can hardly contain my excitement about this enhancement of the Training Analysis plugin. :D

I had a chance to look at it, and I have to say it's a MUST for anybody doing workouts. Period.

Yep, I remember when we started with first steps to integrate your FilteredStatistics and my MapOverlay and GPS2PowerTrack plugins.
And the upcoming one will really provide a valuable set of cooperating plugins for serious training planning and analysis :D :D :D

I can't believe I didn't see this thread earlier.

Do you still need more samples for your development?

My part of the work was released this weekend in 1.1.435. OMB's plugin might have already been released with the new analysis feature, I'm not sure if it was made official or not.
