Training Load & various sport

Training Load & various sport

Postby Félix Dieu » Wed Dec 31, 2014 1:49 am

How does training load adjust the TRIMP based on different sports?

It has been shown that for a rowing if rowing has a factor 1 then

Rowing: 1
rowing ergometer: 1.35
cycling: 0.8
stationary cycling: 0.95
running: 1.4
swimming: 1.2
walking: 0.5

Is there a possibility to adjust depending of the sport? This would allow for a better accuracy.

Thanks

TRIMP is calculated using HR in zones and duration. You would have to setup different HR zones for each category. To do so, I would get my MaxHR or LTHR for running (as that is the highest factor), then adjust the Max or LT HR for the rest of the categories by a percentage of running.

Félix,

in your original post you are quoting the different factors for various sports. While - from own experience - I would agree with the relations between most of them I'm curious if you can quote some sources and/or links you actually got the factors from.

Thank you
