Hi,

Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String arg)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseRootLevelWhitespace()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read()
at System.Xml.XmlLoader.Load(XmlDocument doc, XmlReader reader, Boolean preserveWhitespace)
at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(XmlReader reader)
at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(String filename)
at ZoneFiveSoftware.SportTracks.IO.LogbookIO.Open(String filename, IJobMonitor monitor, JobResults& results)

There was a mandatory update to Training Load for ST 3.1 (Training Load version 1.8.10 and above, released Oct 2011). This fixed the plugin from not loading properly, but didn't have anything to do with ST not loading and/or opening your logbook correctly. The error message posted above leads me to think you may have something corrupt in your logbook (logbook didn't save completely for example).

Try opening a backup logbook and see if that corrects your problem.

You should be able to open an old logbook by double-clicking the backup file...
For example, I would double-click the file mechgt's History~backup-120114.logbook3

Another thing to try to eliminate possibilities is to open ST, then create a new logbook (Logbook > New...). When you close and reopen ST after making a new logbook, it should load your empty blank newly created logbook and no error would appear. Is this what you're seeing?

Are you still seeing the same error? The error above occurs while trying to open the logbook (...LogbookIO.Open...) and I suspect that the file's not structured properly (corrupted somehow).

Tried clicking on an old back-up and then reloading the plug-in. Got this error:
Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String arg)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseRootLevelWhitespace()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read()
at System.Xml.XmlLoader.Load(XmlDocument doc, XmlReader reader, Boolean preserveWhitespace)
at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(XmlReader reader)
at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(String filename)
at ZoneFiveSoftware.SportTracks.IO.LogbookIO.Open(String filename, IJobMonitor monitor, JobResults& results)

Will now try other recommendation.

Just also tried creating a new logbook, closing application, opening it again and yes it opens new logbook. Try downloading plug-in and comes up with the following message:
Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String arg)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseRootLevelWhitespace()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read()
at System.Xml.XmlLoader.Load(XmlDocument doc, XmlReader reader, Boolean preserveWhitespace)
at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(XmlReader reader)
at System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load(String filename)
at ZoneFiveSoftware.SportTracks.IO.LogbookIO.Open(String filename, IJobMonitor monitor, JobResults& results)

Do you think I should just uninstall the whole application and re-install it again? If so, I will need to type my software key will that be possible or will I need to purchase a new license? Really frustrating.... :?

You won't need to purchase any new licenses if you uninstall/reinstall, so no worries there. Worst case scenario, email me and I can reset your plugin license. You can manage your ST license here on the ST website.

So you're saying that this does not happen if Training Load is not installed, but it does happen if it is installed?

- Un-installing/re-installing ST is something worth trying.

- Another thing worth trying: Delete (or rename) your preferences file. When ST starts and cannot find this file, it'll create a new one for you.
Not sure which OS you're using to tell you exactly where it is, but the filename is: Preferences.System.xml
You may be able to get to it like this:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\ZoneFiveSoftware\SportTracks\3\Preferences.System.xml

- If that doesn't work, send me your logbook and preferences file from above (mechgt at gmail.com) and I'll try to open it and see if I can recreate the problem.
