Taking into account ground type

Postby the5krunner » Tue May 24, 2016 5:17 am

Is there any way to account for changes in pace because of the type of surface? eg track, road, gravel path, hard grass, soft grass, mud

I suppose I am asking: is there a plugin which can have some attempt at guessing the surface

If not is there any way that anyone knows where the nature of the surface can be somehow inferred from GPS? I appreciate a GPS point could be a hard path or 50cm away it could be soft grass

For example: altitude can be ascertained from a GPS point lookup to the right SRTM database. Do map providers just overlay their map or do the providers differentiate between the nature of the points on the maps eg river, stream, house, field, road??

please let me know if I am not being clear!! It is clear I my head

trails can do this to some extent, using Pandolf
https://github.com/gerhardol/trails/wik ... usted-pace
But you have to enter surface manually and it does not work too well - surface coefficient in most we markus is quite low actually.
