Off course alerts with Garmin 910xt

Whilst running with OMB-plugin courses I get frequent "off course" alerts with my forerunner 910xt, even when I am still on the course. After some researching I suspect the problem is not with the forerunner, but with the density of the track points.

OMB's plugin has the default value for "Creat track points at least every..." set at 400m. When I create a straight line course on Garmin Connect I get track points every 15m or so. Quite a difference.

I am now going to try 50m intervals and see if it works better. Any views on what the best number of trackpoints is?

Perhaps the Waypoint and Courses default should be reduced?

That's exactly, why I created this option.
On my edge 800 I got 'off course' alarms on straight sections, if the course point distance was more than about 500 meters.
Obviously the 910 is even more picky.
Decrease the option value and you'll be safe.

I still have the same problem with the course point distance at 50m. Routes with Garmin connect work perfectly.

It sometimes looks to me as if the courses on the watch are off-set by 20m or so and that this leads to the false alterts. Not sure why this should be the case though. I also still (at 50m) see gaps in the plotted course on my watch.

For now though, I think I will simply stick to Garmin connect for course plotting.
