Record Book Plugin Question

By the way this plug in is probably my favourite for interest value. I will definately donate once it can search on the manual entered fields - I have 8 years worth of Polar data imported into ST and only 8 months of GPS data! So currently my records aren't of such great interest.

New version 1.2.0 just posted. Plugin has been localized in quite a few new languages, support for manual activities has been added, along with a number of bugfixes.

Hi,
new version is looking very good. So I want to give it try.

Now only thing that seems to be wrong (at least for me).
It look like for example record for 10km take activity with pauses.

So I have activity that starts with 1km warmup. Then watches are stopped for 5minutes. Then I have workout 9km long.

And I see this in record book as record for 10km.

It's not more correct behaviour to see only tracks at least 10km long without those gaps?

If you need log from this activity, I can send it to you.

Thanks
Peter

I don't want to be too strict with it. I don't have a good reason NOT to rank soemthing if it can be ranked. So what if it ranks low? You'll still have a pace record for it, and if you're not interested in it, then you can ignore it.

I'd hate to implement a filter and have it accidentally filter out proper activities because you accidentally hit the stop button instead of the lap button during a race

Yes I understand your point.
But now it's problem that those record with pauses are rated to high.

For example I'm doing interval training. 1km (it takes 4minutes for example) in very high intensity then 10 minute watch pause.) (Ok just an example in this case I'll not stop them)
I repeat it 10x. Now I have my new record for 10km it takes 40minutes. But 10km was running with pauses for 100 minutes. So it was easy to make fastest time for 10km in record book plugin.

Perhaps correct behaviour would be to take start time and end time in real time. And calculate time of 10km. Because than the time will be 140 minutes for this example. Not 40.

Ahh... ok. Now we've got a problem. Send me that activity (email is fine), and I'll take a look at it. I see exactly what you're after.

Good catch!

Min Time Record for Custom Time Field

Postby donlclary » Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:56 am

Good Morning!

I have a custom time field (created using the Trail and Calculated Field plugins). Can the Record Book plugin be used to create a min time record for this Custom Field?

Thank you!

At the moment no, but it's on the TODO list so should eventually be available in a future release; just need to find time to get it completed.

Okay. Thanks for the heads up. I guess that I'll check the readme when new versions of the Record plugin are released.

Just downloaded this plugin to have a look and see if it's worthwhile to purchase.

I set up my different run categories but it seems to have some sort of sort/precedence logic built in?

Two good examples
- I very recently ran a 10km PB, but it does not show up in the 10km list, but 5km of it shows up in the 5km list
- Same for a recent half marathon, not in the 21.1km list but does show up in the 10km list

Is it because the ST "calculated" value is not 10km or over (I over-rode the calculated value of 9.91 and manually entered it as 10km)?

Distance data tracks are what's calculated. If your event isn't over the specified distance, then it won't be considered. For instance if your activity was 9.9km, then it can't be processed for a 10k record. A workaround for this would be to set your record to a little bit shorter.... say 9.9km for the category distance on the settings page (you can still name it 10k though if you like).

You can then look at the pace to compare and see how well you ran, because the pace for that record won't be much different for 9.9 than it would for the full 10k. The total record time might be a little shorter, but the pace should be about the same.

Thanks for the quick response, makes sense so I'll go and change some of the distance parameters

Hi dbray
Icorrect the GPS-Track (maybe there are some bad or short points) that i have after a distance like 10.01 km, then it shows in Record Book.

Can you explain why some of my runs in the "Where does it rank" tab have comparisons for the distances I have set up and some don't, even when the length of the run would make them eligible for comparison.

This was a bug. I just posted the new build that should fix this issue: v1.2.1

Changes:
Where Does it Rank tab bugfix (see previous post)
Chinese translation updates
Distance tab chart axis behavior bugfix

Great job, thanks very much for the fix. Now is there any chance of getting the columns in the Now/Then tab to remember the width I set them at?

Hi, I just installed the 1.2.1 plugin - but the rankings are definitely wrong! I don't understand how they are calculated.

In the "Distance"-tab - Running 3 km at 20:54 is ranked first (gold medal) and 19:29 second, 22:48 third...and that's how it continues - what's wrong?

Are you maybe looking at total time vs. pace? Because of how frequently the GPS points are recorded, sometimes the distances aren't EXACTLY the same. Records are ranked based on pace, not total time.
In other words, for 3k #1 might be 3.05km, #2, 3.0km, and #3 3.1km (or something like that); but generally you're really interested in when you ran the fastest... i.e. had the fastest pace.

Does this address what you're looking for?

Well I actually don't get it.

Under the "Distance"-tab, I have my 3km:

Ranked 1st 20:54, distance 3000,62m, 2nd 19:29, distance 3000,11m.

The difference between these two are in distance 0,51m (half a step). The difference in time is 1:25 minutes. Even if I was looking at pace vs distance (I don't know how a change) I would say that the 2nd time was better in pace than the 1st.

A previous poster had the exact same question:
viewtopic.php?p=48404#p48404

This post explains better what I'm trying to say:
viewtopic.php?p=49251#p49251

Take a look at your speed/pace column and see if they're not in the proper order. The screenshot on attach post truncates the unnecessary decimals on the speed column, but they are in fact in order. If you're still having issues/doubts, post the two activities that are causing you grief and I'll have a look at them (zip them up if they're too large to post).

Hello,

Is there any method to filter out some activities?

Let say, I have training book for 8 years and i would know my records only for current year

Thanks in advance

Not yet, but that's already on my radar for a future enhancement. No promise on when, but hopefully you'll see that in a future release.

while I tested this plugin, I changed number of records displayed to 10. Unfortunately, I don't remember where is this option to move this option back to 20 :)

Could anyone help me to solve this?

When you enter the record book page there is a circular symbol with a triangle in it, at the top right of the screen. Click on this and you have option for how many records are displayed
