How to use source exclusion

How to use source exclusion

Postby langlaeufer » Thu Apr 08, 2010 8:46 am

How to use the option to specify sources that should be excluded from automatic correction at import?

I want to exclude my Garmin Edge 705 from correction but not the Foreruner 305. I was not able to exclude any device. Can anyone tell me a working string to exclude my Edge 705 from elevation correction?

Hi langlaeufer,

i have the same problem. I tried a lot of exclusion strings (by investigation of the xml files) but i found no working string.

Sorry - no solution ;-)

@langlaeufer+guenteri: What does SportTracks report in the Activity Metadata Source tag in the logbook and exported fitlogs for Edge 705 data? For my Forerunner 305 I get

<Activity ... >
<Metadata ... Source="Imported from Garmin - Forerunner 305 "... />

Foreruner 305
source="Importiert von Garmin - Forerunner 305 "
(german language version)

Egde 705 - there is no source attribute in the logbook and an empty source attribute in fitlog.

Ok, this is a problem.

general Question: Is it a sub-string search or is the exact string needed? E.g. if I may want to exclude my Forerunner, have I to write "Importiert von Garmin - Forerunner 305 " or would "Forerunner" be enough?

source tag of garmin edge 705

Postby guenteri » Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:02 pm

Hi pkan,

in the *.tcx file in the history folder of the Edge 705 device i found the following string
Code: Select all
xsi:type="Device_t"><Name>EDGE705</Name>
So "EDGE705" was the string i tried for excluding the elevation correction.

As you mentioned i took a look to the logbok Files of ST.

I also own an Forerunner 305 - here ist the Metadata of an Activity (same as yours but in german ;-))
Code: Select all
<Metadata created="2010-04-04T22:03:16Z" modified="2010-04-04T22:05:07Z" source="Importiert von Garmin - Forerunner 305 " />

And here the Metadata of the Edge 705:
Code: Select all
<Metadata created="2010-04-06T20:38:17Z" modified="2010-04-06T20:42:05Z" />
I think thats the problem-> No source Tag when data comes from edge 705.

Maybe a topic of the import routine?

Best regards

Ok, this is a problem.

I presume that this is due to Edge 705 import not being done directly from the unit but from a directory of TCX files, with the source information apparently getting lost somewhere on the way. I'll raise the question in the developers forum and see if I can get more information.

Any substring should work. I guess the description could be more explicit about this.
