Elevation correction plugin for ST3

Elevation correction plugin for ST3

Postby pkan » Mon Jul 19, 2010 4:02 pm

The ST3 version of the elevation correction plugin is now available for download from the ST3 plugin catalog.

In addition to migrating from ST2 to ST3, I've added a workaround for some file name inconsistencies on the SRTM download server (mainly affecting Canada north of 55° N) and improved handling of partially covered SRTM cells (mainly affecting Canada close to the US border and cells at 60° N in general).

If you encounter any problems, please report them in this thread.

Dumb question - I can't find the ST3 plugin catalog location anywhere, or in any documentation. Location? I'm sure I missed it, but none of the stickied posts or the ST3 download page seem to have the link. :P

The plugin catalog can be found by going to Settings/Plugins in SportTracks and pressing the "View Plugin Catalog" button at the top right. A direct link is http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sporttracks/plugins/?stv=3. A direct link to the ST3 Elevation Correction plugin information page is http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sporttracks/plugins/plugin_detail.php?id=178.

Hopefully this isn't too dumb a question. Will this plug in work for Australia? By that I mean is there a source for the more accurate data.
Thanks

Yes, SRTM data is available for Australia, with the same 3 arc second resolution as for the rest of the world outside the United States.

Question about the ST3 Elevation Correction. I am using the plugin with local NED data and the elevation calculations look to be off (but the chart of the elevation looks correct).

For example, I have a 10 mile run and the with the corrected elevation applied, it shows only 82 ft of elevation assending. But when I look at the graph, I can see if have at least 3 climbs of 65+ feet. The totals don't add up.

You may need to adjust your climb zones and especially the definition of Flat. See FAQ Elevation and Climb Data
