Thanks for this plugin, Richard.

Regarding the colour coding, I am intending to pick a different colour per sport, and then have progressively darker shades of that colour for progressively harder subcategories within that sport. E.g. I might pick red for running. I would thus use pink for recovery runs, dark pink for LSD, light red for tempo, and dark red for hard intervals.

The selection of these colours would be much easier if there was a GUI that kept the whole colour pallette visible, and then allowed you to drag the desired colour to the desired sub-category. With the current drop-down control, it is difficult to keep track of exactly which colour selection has been used.

Does that make sense?

Legend

Postby 7270martin » Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:29 pm

In case of many different sub-activities:

Please add a color legend at the bottom or your overview (below December).

Thanks for your great contribution!

Awesome! Of course the two previous suggestions will go a long way toward making this perfect.

1) A Legend

2) Something to make color choices a bit easier. It seems the colors are scattered about. Even if you wanted to pick the same color as you had previously used, it would be difficult to pick it out of the list. Perhaps the assigned activity showing up alonside the color.

3) Then of course double clicking on a selected colored box would take you to the daily activity of that particular box.

It's such a pleasure to use a plugin that someone produced which is neat, compact and fast. Thanks again.

Thanks for a well written, useful plugin.

I've already found this very useful for "finding" activities: For example I know I did a race sometime March / April, but can't remember the exact date... Using this plugin makes it easy to find exactly what I'm looking for quickly.

Perhaps "Mouse Over" the selected activity could display the activity summary (Distance, Time, Location, Category...) as a tooltip popup.

Not sure a legend will fit in at the bottom of the screen - but I could add it by including the colours to the category filter at the top of the screen.

That way the category filter would look a bit like the category tree in the settings pages.

Hello,

first of all, I like this Plugin very much.

Because I have a lot of different activities and a lot of different colours I think it would be helpful to have icons instead of colours.

I like the WhereInThe World plugin, there we have icons. Maybe this is possible...

thank you verry much richard for this nice plugin.

tested the latest version v0.1.3132 with the german version of ST, working perfect 8)

a small suggestion, is it possible to popup a bubble with the essential activity infos (Date, Location and the name of the category) by navigating the mouse over a bar?

anyone else for this?

bye bye and thanks again

+1 from me!

A tooltip functionality would be a good extension of your nice plugin!

I noticed in the latest version now that when you initially choose a color for a parent category that all the children get set to the same color. Great, but then if you try to change it to another color, it seems to not work any more (doesn't apply to children).

Thinking about this a little more, I think what would make the most sense is to have a checkbox next to the color drop-down selection for whether or not you want to apply the color change to all child categories or not. I can see situations where you have made individual customizations to the children and you want to change the parent color without affecting the children. But I can also see times when you want to reset all the children to the parent.

The checkbox would provide the most flexibility IMHO.

Thanks.

Sounds like real life - where the children will listen to the parents, but then next time they won't listen....

Seriously though - it looks like a bug where if the parent is changed the children should follow.

But a selection option to allow the child/parent change would be a good enhancement.
