SwinRun / Open water-Running

Postby skygod » Mon Jun 13, 2016 7:52 am

Hi there!
I have had Garmin GPS sport watches for years. Nowadays i do more and more open water and running in mix (SwimRun).
I like Garmin so i like to continue with that brand, i think...

I have 910XT today but my experience is quite poor performance in open water. That means GPS accuracy is quite rough in during swimming and the the way to switch between sports are clumsy.
So, any recommendations or experience anyone?

- Forerunner® 735XT
- Forerunner® 920XT
- fēnix® 3

?

Might be nice to narrow down which sentence of the 50,000 words is relevant...

My selection was Forerunner 735XT and i have now used it for a couple of months.
The unit has works just fine and supports multisport just the way I want, especially with the F/W upgrade 4.05 beta.

The usage with Garmin Connect and further synchronization with other applications are fine but there is one downside:
- Poor integration with ST3. I am using FIT-file import.
* Multisport is not possible to import.
* Strange values (like distance, calories) are sometimes imported.

*** ST3 is still the best tool to support training analysis, planning, reporting etc.
I would really like to continue to use it.

- Is there a way so import 735 files in a correct way?

Hopeful...!

Why is the FIT file import a poor method?
Do you have OMB's Garmin Fit Devices plugin?

Sorry if I was unclear there Toast. The problem is not the FIT file, i just mentioned that i use this method. The problem is the same using G communicator, Garmin Express and export from Garmin Connect (FIT, TCX, GPX).
The problem seems to be the way that ST3 handles multisport activities.
Will the plugin Garmin FIT devices help ST3 manage and present multisport?

I'm not sure but try and pm OMB and see if it does or if he can get it to work.

I have a 310 xt that I used in triathlons and I believe I could import as a multisport with that device through Garmin Fit Devices but not positive as its been a long time.
