That answers the second part of a two part question. "Do I have to upgrade?" was the first part. I like SportTracks the way it is.

I was confused about the "is the upgrade free part"..... :)

It's been awhile since I've used the free trial version. I believe the free trial pause at startup gets longer and longer of a wait, and you'll be limited to the features and history listed on the comparison page linked from the store.

So if for example you've used the app for nine years and never paid, the startup wait might be something like 2 or 3 hours.

Windows 10 is a free upgrade. :)
I read a review about the benefits of the paid upgrade and the verdict was that it was a great value if you were into precise analysis of workouts. I've been sidelined for over 5 years and just want that extra motivation I get from seeing a map of my runs (mostly walking at the moment). The article also pointed out that the free version is just a matter of not paying and that that fact isn't made evident by the SportTracks people. Thusly, my joke. I love SportTracks and really appreciate all the help I get on this forum.
