Importing Garmin Express data is terrible

Postby ridera » Wed Oct 14, 2015 10:49 am

Importing from Garmin ANT files worked great for years. Garmin Express FIT files importing is a mess and badly needs fixing.

Best I can tell from reading the forum posts, you must go to the folder and manually select all the files to be imported. Previous, all that one needed to do was select the "device", not all the individual files. Am I missing something?

OMB's Garmin FIT import does work at all. Just get a "Import was completed but no..." No what? Just "no "

This probably doesn't help you, but import works perfectly for me from my Garmin Swim, 310xt, FR60 and Garmin Edge 800. I don't use Garmin Express at all and have stayed with the Garmin Ant Agent. I also use OMB's Garmin Fit Devices plugin. I also don't use Garmin Connect.

I'd use ANT too; but, it's no longer supported by Garmin and only still works with IE, so Garmin support told me. It quit working for Firefox about 6 months ago when Firefox was updated.

I had hoped OMB's importer would work for a folder with FIT files; but, can't get it to work.

I'm resorting to selecting the files manually and do it that way.

Importing the files directly has been the recommended way for a number of years now, particularly since Garmin moved more towards mass storage devices.

Mas storage devices? All the more reason to provide a scan script for users.

OMB's Garmin FIT plugin is suppose to automatically fetch the latest new FIT files, are they not?

Post your situation on OMB's Fit devices plugin page. If something is broken, he'll fix it.

Why? It's no hardship once you've found the first one. Is it really that hard to open a folder and select files? :?:
