Integration with Calendar Apps (e.g. Yahoo Calendar)?

Integration with Calendar Apps (e.g. Yahoo Calendar)?

Postby garmin301user » Fri May 06, 2011 1:44 pm

Greetings. New to this plugin. Looks very interesting! Was wondering if this plugin allows you to synch (or simply export) your training plan to be viewed in an outside calendar application?

For example, currently, I have a Yahoo calendar appointment for each of my planned fitness activities for a given day (e.g. Run 10M Easy). This allows me to see this whether I am at work behind a browser, on the road with my iphone or about town on my ipad. Would be great if this application could synch with these appointments or at least export to a format readable to the calendar. Hope this question makes sense. Thanks!

Also, if this plugin doesn't do what I am looking to do, but someone has an idea for any workarounds, I'd love to hear those too.

thanks again!

Those features are not currently implemented. However this isn't the first time I've heard this request, and it will be considered for future enhancements. Currently there are several other new features with higher priority that will get attention first and no development has been done on this enhancement yet. Personally I use Google Calender quite a bit and can definitely see the benefit of the integration, so hopefully it'll make it in at some point.

OK. Great! Thanks for the prompt reply. I think I might just have to cough up another $10 and buy this baby. I hope you'll be able to get around to some sort of calendar integration, though.

by the way, I love Training Load which I bought a few months back and was using before for some time in eval mode.

Keep up the great work!!

The way this plugin interacts wit Training Load and Garmin Fitness is nothing less than brilliant.

Once it syncs with my Google calendar my life will be perfect.

Hope you can find time to get around it, in the nearest future. If i could i would help you.

Hi Mechgt

Here just over the 2 year birthday for your latest comment regarding this. 8)

I was hoping you could give an update on the situation regard a very useful update to the brilliant Fit Plan plugin.

Hopefully it is good news, but any news would be appreciated.

Google Calendar integration is around the corner. Anyone want to subject themselves to being a guinea pig and do some testing? If so, PM or email me.

this is an excellent idea. The Plugin Training Documentation can be used for riding into MS Outlook. If Fit Plan would do the same, both, Fit Plan and actual Training could be seen in that Programm.
Thanks

For anyone that'd like to try out the plugin before it's officially released, here's a link to the beta. Post back if you find any issues.

The major new change with this build is integration with Google Calendar (in addition to a couple of bugfixes).

Hi,

Installed the beta, it is looking good in my Google Calendar, but I have it synced to my iphone calendar (via google account) and also to my Outlook (via the iCal link provided by google Calendar), and in both of them each workout is displayed twice:

This is not happening when accesing GC from a web browser.

Maybe a bug, maybe I am doing something wrong?

There's an option to display the event as an Icon or Text - checkout the 'Options...' dialog in the dropdown menu above the main Fit Plan calendar. Disable one of those options and sync again.

Hi Debbie, here's a fast "how to":

1 download the beta from the link tfive posts above, and install.
2 go to Google Calendar, and create a new calendar in your account (name it "workouts" or whatever)
3 Launch ST, and go to Fit Plan. Look at the upper right corner of the calendar view, you will see a google icon. click on it, a menu pos up, then click on "login" and provide the requested login info and choose the newly created calendar
4 In the same menu, go to "options" and select only one of the two (TIP: the icon works great in a busy Google Calendar).
5 Hit Sync calendar (you can enable auto-sync later)

That should make your ST workout plan show up in your Google Calendar. Hope this helps!! :D

One comment:

Is it possible to add a feature where we are able to choose if the events are displayed as free or occupied? Right now I'm occupied all day, all days because that is the default setting :)

Good catch, thanks. No, there are no options as of now, but I'll look into fixing that.

I manage to follow steps 1 to 3 OK.
However, when I try to initiate "go to options" the login box remains on top of ST and prevents me from selecting anything further. I've definitley selected the correct username/password and pressed the sign in button.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Or maybe this beta only works with the upgraded version of Training Plan?...

Yep, took a punt and upgraded.
Integration only seems to work with upgraded version.
After a bit of messing around got it to (mostly) work.
