I allways think its really not fair from lots of users to use plugins and dont even bother to rate.

E.G. elevation correction has 7k downloads and is no doubt a MUST_HAVE for FR305 users etc, as otherwise the elevation data is for the bin, so this should have at least several hundred ratings: it does the job, it doesnt create work, its just in the background - it just clocks up 11 ratings

I hear you, but some will just use it and forget about it (and the work that went into getting it to the end user).
You only hear when something is not working, doesn't provide as expected etc - all you have to do is look through the forums (ST/Plugins) and you'll quickly see that most of it is questions about how it is not providing exactly what each user is expecting, issues, problems, what can be changed, etc - it's just human nature.......
Usually its a bit like reverse psychology - low ratings/low positive feedback, means the product is provding exactly what is necessary - more so when there is alot of downloads.

I sometimes ask users to rate the plugin. Since the race is on, you can expect me to go at war for that top spot!!!

I rate all the plugins I use, and even some I don't use that are well written and fit for purpose.
Biggest problem for the active rater is ZoneFive limiting the number of votes

I actually do the same.
I'll also sometimes write a review as well. It helps others when looking for a plugin. I'll always read reviews before using a product.
However sometimes it appears those reviews look more like they belong in the forum as the appear to be more like questions or requests.

I hope you dont make payment modules, update reminders, start menu icons and all other irelevant stuff.
I dont mind paying and donate for a plugin but i hate to see developers who think their plugin is the reason we use sportstracks.

Thanks for the good work keep it coming - hope i have the same abillity as you to make a plugin becaurse i need a function ;)

I agree and all but most users don't donate which makes plugin development quite an investment without any sort of return.
I know you're not refering to me and hopefully the middle ground I found fits most users. Believe me when I say that I woudl have prefered the ST2 method of asking for donations but it wasn't sustainable.

I use my sparetime doing what i enjoy - i think this is the best attitude. I help out in my club and train newcomers in my sport. I dont ask to get paid for my time and if someone brings a cake once in a while the this is appriciated.
